Take a look around and notice how many people aren’t on their Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter accounts. They are having passionate discussions about what’s hot. This is what has driven the growth of social media in the past two decades. Social media was originally created to allow people to keep in touch with loved ones and the rest of the world. However, its reach has expanded exponentially. It is now a key component of many businesses’ marketing strategies. With seamless customer experiences being a top priority for marketers, brands are slowly but surely combining social media and other channels to create cross-channel opportunities.

We will be highlighting various strategies that you can use to combine your email and social media marketing strategies to increase your business’s growth. Continue reading to learn more!

Upload your Contact List to Social Media Platforms

Do you want to strengthen your relationship with your subscribers? You can add a face to their names. How do you go about doing it? Upload your subscriber lists on the various social media platforms you use. This will give them a face and allow you to take a closer look into your contacts’ social media feeds. It’s easy to gain clarity about their problems. It becomes much easier to create strategies that address their problems.

The method for uploading contacts differs from one platform to the next. We will now go over the steps for a few of the most popular platforms.

Twitter

  • Open your Twitter account, and look for the link “Find people that you know” in the left sidebar. It should be visible below the “Who you should follow” section.
  • You can connect your professional or personal email address book according to your requirements. Contacts can be imported from Outlook, Yahoo!, AOL and Gmail.
  • After choosing a contact list, you will need to give permission for Twitter to access it.
  • Twitter will verify your contacts’ email addresses against its database once you click “Allow”. After this, Twitter will display their profiles. Follow them now.

LinkedIn

  • Look for the tab “Connections” on your LinkedIn homepage. To access a pop up menu, hover over it.
  • Select the “Add Connections” option. You will be presented with a list popular ESPs, from which you can upload your contacts. If you wish to upload a CSV file of your subscriber lists, you can click on the icons or select one.
  • After the file has been uploaded, you can view the LinkedIn profiles for your contacts. You can also send them a request for connection. You can also invite them to join a company group.

LinkedIn and Twitter are extremely useful in building professional networks. Facebook? Not so much. Don’t let it go. Facebook allows you to create “Custom Audiences” and target ads to them.

These steps will help you to achieve this.

  • Go to “Ads Manager” on your Facebook page.
  • Next, click on the “Audiences” link. The green button titled “Create Audience” will appear.
  • A pop-up menu will open. Choose “Custom Audience” from the available options.
  • Next, click “Customer list”. You can choose to upload a TXT file or a CSV file with your contacts.
  • Once you have identified your audience, you can start creating targeted ads.

Add Links to Your Social Media Profiles

Incorporating links to your social media accounts in marketing emails or newsletters is a great way to increase your visibility. Don’t just add the icons to the social media platforms you use. This will not inspire your readers to take action. Give them a peek at the content on your social media feed to pique their interest. You can tell them what they may be missing out on if they don’t follow you.

Also, ensure that the icons are in line with your overall email template design. If your template has vibrant colors, the icons can be added in their original brand colors. If you use a monochrome layout, your social icons should reflect that.

Giveaways such as these can drive traffic to your social media sites and increase your followers. As you can see, the best way to announce contests is to make it prominent in the hero section.

Make Sure Your Tone Is Consistent

Maintaining a consistent tone across multiple marketing channels can be difficult. This will help you consolidate your brand’s identity if done correctly. If there is a shift in voice between your newsletters and your social media accounts, subscribers who have been directed to them will be dismayed. Consider email and social when designing content or design strategies.

Collect Email Addresses Using Your Social Media Platforms

Are you struggling to get attention for your newsletter? Your social media accounts are your best friend! Add a link to the signup form for your newsletter in your bio section. If your social media skills are top-notch and you have a lot of followers, it will not be difficult to convince them to give you their email addresses. You can increase your chances of getting signed up by including an incentive such as a free resource, whitepaper, calendar or other similar material, shipping offers or monetary discounts.
