One thing is certain: creating content takes time.
Last month, I spoke with a lot of Buffer users and discovered that 71% wanted a quicker way to create and publish content.
This made me want to do some research on the numbers behind content creation.
On average, a Buffer user posts nine posts per day.
This involves downloading a separate platform that stores the content. This could be a Trello board or Notion doc. Or a Google Sheet. It takes about 90 seconds to load the content, copy it to Buffer, format it correctly, and schedule it.
Although it may sound quick, 90 seconds per post adds up. It’s:
- Each week, an hour and a quarter.
- A month, seven hours.
- Or, 84 hours per year.
This means that the average Buffer user will spend 84 hours copying and pasting content from different platforms into Buffer every year.
I would rather you save your time and go on holiday somewhere hot.
I am delighted to present Ideas, the newest feature of Buffer.
Ideas are the idea behind them
You can save all your ideas with Ideas, modify them until you’re happy, and then drop them into your Buffer queue.
This will help you save two weeks a year. You can now work faster and more efficiently by storing all of your ideas in one place.
You can store and capture your ideas with Ideas.
You can access it on your smartphone, on the web with our browser extension or on the Buffer desktop application.
Plus, Ideas was designed to be intuitive and easy to use while still being powerful enough to store all kinds of ideas. Your ideas can be enhanced with photos, gifs and videos.
You can save all your top ideas in one place and have a gallery with curated content that will hopefully inspire you to create more.
8 Ideas to Get You Started
Buffer allows you to save ideas. The Buffer browser extension allows you to highlight any text and right-click to save it as Ideas.
It’s worth a try.
These are eight ideas to help you get started
- Make a how to-video explaining how your product/service works
- For a piece of content, partner with another brand
- Social swap: Have a member of your team take over social media for a day
- A blog post can be distilled into a TikTok in 30 seconds
- Share a quote from your blog and pull it out to Pinterest
- Use Twitter and LinkedIn to poll your audience
- Ask your team members to conduct an AMA about their job.
- Take a look at a list-based post on Twitter Threads, or an Instagram Carousel.
These ideas can be saved to Buffer as Ideas so you can use them in your own content creation.
Be aware that some Buffer users who signed-up over a year ago but have not migrated to the New Buffer platform yet won’t be allowed to access Ideas. If you don’t see ideas in your Buffer dashboard, that is why. Don’t worry! We’ll soon offer a way to transfer to the New Buffer platform so you can access Ideas and a whole host of other Buffer features.
