Enthusiasm, personality, accountability. These characteristics, according to Beccy Gibson (managing director at marketing agency Tempt), can give a small agency an edge in delivering results.
Beccy spoke with us about her life as a founder of a marketing agency and how Buffer helps keep their clients happy.
Tell us a little bit about your agency, “Tempt”, and how it came to be.
Over ten years I have worked in-house as well as in agencies, and with many brands. Tempt was founded in 2018 by us with the vision of creating a boutique-style agency that sparks interest in the industry, has influence, and works closely with brands.
We currently manage 10 clients in a variety of sectors, but mainly hospitality and leisure brands. We help with branding, PR and events. Social media marketing is an important part of our work for them. It’s a great time to work with clients, particularly with hospitality brands coming out of tough times like the pandemic. Although the macro-environment is still uncertain, there are many opportunities to make an impact with creative campaigns and thoughtful marketing strategies.
Marketing agencies are a highly competitive industry. How can you distinguish your brand?
We are a small but dedicated team. Our goal is to deliver outstanding results with enthusiasm and accountability. We have a combined experience of over 20 years in marketing and PR. This, coupled with our customer-focused approach, allows us to deliver results that are truly meaningful for our clients. We are not only able to build brands, but we also have the ability to drive a commercial impact and return on investment (such as bookings or sales). This is what we try to bring to every collaboration. We also have new ideas and approaches for brands that we work with. Our clients love us because we are a team full of passion, personality, accountability, and great service.
How can social media be integrated into your wider range of services?
Social media marketing is a great way to connect with potential customers and build a community around your brand. The scope of social media marketing can be vast, from content creation and planning to influencer outreach and daily email management. Our strategic process includes an audit of our clients’ digital footprint, helping them to set clear objectives and then recommending content ideas across most effective channels. This helps build the foundations for their growth. We assist them with planning, content creation and management of organic and paid social media marketing campaigns.
Why did Buffer make you choose Buffer over other social media management tools.
We chose Buffer to be our social media management tool of choice because it allows us all the client’s social media accounts in one place. The interface is very user-friendly and simple. Buffer is used for scheduling, engaging and pulling analytics reports.
What role should Buffer play in your daily life?
We use Buffer every day to manage our clients’ campaigns. It also allows us to plan content across multiple platforms in advance. Buffer has become an integral part of our daily work life. It is our go-to tool for scheduling, client analytics, and reporting.
Do any of your favorite features stand out?
The Buffer analytics tool is a huge asset to my social media management. Buffer analytics allows us to analyze and report on client performance. This allows us to be transparent with clients and ensures that our reporting is concise and clear. Analytics reporting is efficient because we can learn from our mistakes and adapt future content accordingly.
What is the most interesting or effective social media strategy that you have implemented in this year’s?
Organically, our brand refresh campaign was very successful and well-received. It was a visual and informative approach to assets on social media, and it has resulted in a significant increase in website visits.
What advice would you give a social media marketer who wants to start their own agency/freelancing company?
My best advice is to show up with purpose, and ensure that expectations are clearly set at the outset. Social media has a huge scope. It’s not easy to see the full extent of what it can do.
