- These are great tips and insights on optimizing your keyword titles
It is crucial to optimize titles for articles, blogs, or webpages in order to get traffic and earn money through Adsense and affiliates. To avoid being penalized for keyword stuffing, it is best to limit your keyword phrases to one per page. You can get more visitors to your site by adding related keywords to the page, in addition to the modifiers and words.
This article will review my personal experience with carefully crafting keyword titles.
Use one keyword phrase for the page title
A good tip is to target individual keywords on different pages, and then use multiple pages for related terms. You won’t be able compete for the most popular keywords without creating longtail titles and phrases. It is best to keep your title under 70 characters and target only two or three primary keywords that are relevant to the page’s content and objective. Long-tail keywords can be combined with your primary keywords and a number of modifiers to create a title that is logical to both humans and the bots.
Avoid keyword stuffing
You can find a lot of information about the dangers of keyword-stuffing. This refers to the over-use of keywords or keyword phrases in the title, description and body copy. Google will penalize you for keyword stuffing. However, the threshold keyword density isn’t exactly known. There are many tools that can count the frequency of keyword use. Keyword density is simply the percentage of keywords that appear on a page. It can be described as the number of times your search terms (Keyword phrase or Keyword term) occur relative to the total words. The ideal Keyword Density should not exceed 5.5 percent. Different search engines have different thresholds that they use to apply penalties. High Keyword Densities are a good way to boost page rankings. However, you don’t need to do it too often.
You can increase your keyword density by repeatedly using your keywords in the:
- Title tag
- Header tag
- Comment tag
- Body tag
- Anchor tag
- Image tag
- Alt tag
- Domain name
- Paragraph tag
A general rule of thumb for titles is to not use the same keyword twice.
Google and other search engines rank keywords under the title
Although it isn’t widely known, Google and other search engines register every keyword in your title and every combination. This includes all orders and positions. Google will register every keyword and phrase and give them a ranking.
Diluted weight of keywords in title
Google seems to consider long titles more likely to be Spammy, especially very long titles. Keyword-stuffed titles with longer titles might also be possible. Research shows that the first keyword in a title is the most important. The second keyword is slightly lighter. You can reduce the weight of each keyword by adding more words. It is important to keep keywords in close proximity to one another and in their natural order when targeting two-word phrases and searches. Match the order of terms in the search phrase to the title.
Increase your traffic by using multiple keyword phrases
Google will rank all words in the title. If this happens, it is more likely that you will get more traffic if you include two or three keywords. Each word should bring in more traffic. Optimizing titles is all about understanding when this is appropriate. As we have already explained, the value or weight of the keyword seems to decrease as you go from one word to another. The weight of each word appears to be lessened if there are more keywords. Relevance is also an important consideration. If the words used are not directly related to the page’s content, your page could be penalized.
Competition is the key aspect – Only use one phrase when there is intense competition
It is better to use one keyword or phrase if there is lots of competition for that keyword. Use the Google Keyword Planner to find the keyword phrase that you want in your title. It is not wise to mess with the competition and statistics for this exact phrase. There are many tools that can be used in order to determine the potential traffic and competition for the phrase. Keyword Research shows how minor changes to the phrase can have a dramatic impact on traffic and competition.
You must maintain the strength and relevance of your page and title if there is a lot of competition. The keyword’s weight will be reduced if you add more phrases. Pages that are highly targeted by that keyword phrase will also be in your competition. If you don’t have a single, focused title for the keyword, you could lose the fight.
Increase the competition by adding more keywords
Multiple keywords can be used in the title to reduce competition.
1. Two or more modifiers are recommended
To avoid duplicate keywords, you can add one to two additional modifiers or actions words. You will often see two phrases that contain the primary keyword, phrase, in the Google Keyword Tool.
[action word 1 keyword] + [keyword action word 2] = [action word 1 keyword action word 2]
For example, let’s say you need a title keyword for your article on Green Tea health benefits. You want to narrow the search to extracts by using a longtail keyword. The obvious answer is:
- Green Tea Extracts Have Health Benefits
This is a title that can be used to describe four phrases
- Green Benefits
- Green Tea has many health benefits
- Green Tea Extracts
- Green Tea Extracts Have Health Benefits
Another example is the title Professional Makeup Artists
Reviews of Professional Makeup Artists + Makeup Artist Portfolios = Review of Professional Makeup Artist Portfolios
This means that the title target consists of four phrases:
- Review of professional makeup artists
- Make-up Artist Portfolios
- Professional make-up artist portfolios
- Review of Portfolios of Professional Makeup Artists
This is an easy way to create a concise title that’s optimized for multiple key terms and narrowed down your target audience. This title might be about making portfolios or how to review makeup artists. It is not easy to find similar word combinations, so it highlights that title design can be an art form. These examples show you how action keywords and modifier words can be used to target buyers who want to buy. This will help your website achieve its goal.
2. Keyword choices based on long tail actions
Long-tail titles that include action words are more effective than those with action words. Action-based queries are most likely to attract users who have their credit cards out and are eager to find the right product and buy it. While targeting your audience may result in some people being lost, the people you have narrowed down will be more likely buying.
SEO title optimization serves to improve the keywords potential buyers use to search for your products or services.
It is best to create the longtail keyword title using well-chosen action words as modifiers. Instead, research the action words and phrases for maximum benefit.
Use keyword phrases that are competitive to enhance the title
Google Keyword Planner Tool may show you two keyword phrases that are essentially related to the exact same topic. For example, let’s say you want to market green tea extracts for their health benefits and help people lose weight. The Google Keyword Planner Tool displays three competitive phrases
- Green tea has many health benefits
- Green tea extract
- Green tea benefits for weight loss
You can combine these phrases in a way that preserves the order of words (with green tea being the first phrase), but allows all phrases to be used in your title.
Take, for example.
- Green tea extract: Weight loss health benefits
The longtail keyword can be used for all three phrases.
A great separator between two phrases
Is there a perfect separator for multiple keyword phrases? It doesn’t really matter. ), a colon (:) a dash (-), or a comma (,)
Search engines won’t recognize the underscore (_) as a separator. These characters do not have any ranking benefits, but they make your title more readable.
Using plurals and synonyms
You may need to expand the keywords to include synonyms and plurals in some cases. The same topic is covered by “architectural supplies”, “architectural supplies” or “technical drawing equipment”. If you are able to, create the title to include these variations.
Example: “Architectural supplies: Technical Drawing equipment for architects”
Targeting a single keyword in your title can lead to overoptimization. It is possible to use the same keyword on every page. This is less likely if you include variants.
Don’t overdo it!
Be careful, as adding keywords can lead to less impact for each one. You will sound less natural if you add more keywords to your search results. The following example: If you enter the title “-” in your search results, it will be interpreted as “-“.
Gourmet Coffee
It will not be liked by Google as it is interpreted as keyword stuffing. It will not be liked by potential customers as they will perceive it as unnatural and unlikely to use it for promotional material.
It would be much better if:
Ground Gourmet Coffee Suppliers at Low Prices and Fresh Roasted Bean Suppliers
Which one looks better in search results? Which is more likely to be mistaken for keyword stuffing or deception?
You can use the keyword “Recycling Information – How and Where to Recycle”
What if you also want to optimize your article for the keyword “Recycling tips”?
A title like this could be built.
Recycling Information – Recycling Tips: Why and How Recycling is Better
However, this is keyword stuffing. Google will likely penalize you for it.
Better options are
Recycling Information – Tips and Tricks on How to Recycle
As you can see, your second keyword recycling tip is in the title. However, the keyword word information is between. Although this will make your page less effective, Google will still rank you page for keyword Recycling Information – Tips. You will see that even pages appearing higher up in search results often have matching keywords shown in bold.
Final thoughts
- While traffic building is important, it is the conversion rates that are really important
- Marketing strategy: The keyword “tail”, should not be used to “wage” your dog. Focus on the main keyword and place it at the top of your title.
- To group keywords, use keyword and association matching. Ranking your phrases for search popularity is important, but ensure that you are able to compete for them. You can also add modifiers to create a longtail title that will work.
- Remember that conversion rates are determined by human users, not search engines.
- Your titles should be easily readable and attractive
This, along with writing high quality content for people that is optimized for Google, will result in your articles, blogs, and webpages being ranked for many keywords with high conversion rates. It is possible to rank for keywords that were not your primary focus.
