We didn’t know who would use Start Page when we launched it in October 2021.
Although we had a gut feeling, it turned out that we were not imaginative enough.
We couldn’t have imagined how much Start Page was used. We are humbled to see so many different pages every day, from plumbers to photographers, to baking sites to gig night hosts, and everything in between. Scroll down to view our six favourite Start Pages.
It’s also filled up our inboxes as many of you have been kind enough and contacted us to provide feedback. This has kept our team busy building new features and tools for Start Page.
Five improvements to the Start Page
Instead of focusing on a long list of features that customers may want, we chose to concentrate on the features they asked for. This is one of the many lessons that we have learned while building a new product.
We’re grateful for your feedback and have focused our efforts on five new features that we hope you will all love.
1. GIF Gallery
Add a GIF as your background to catch the eye. Choose from one of the pre-selected 15 GIFs or browse through thousands of other GIFs in Giphy. You can design your Start Page with anything you want, from relaxing memes to iconic beach scenes.
These GIFs, which were hand-picked, have been selected for their accessibility best practices. They look great and contain subtle motion.
2. Promote latest YouTube uploads
Many people who upload videos on YouTube regularly struggle to gain views for new videos.
While the algorithm does a great job of promoting old content viewers enjoy, it often overlooks newer content. Start Page could be a great resource.
You can now link to all your YouTube videos with the YouTube Video Block. Every time you upload a video, it will be displayed automatically on your Start Page. This is a great way to make sure your audience doesn’t miss your most recent work.
3. Showcase links to products and content
You’ve probably wished for a landing page that would link to your most loved products or the best-performing content. Start Page is able to do exactly that.
The Image Links Grid allows you to upload images and link to relevant web pages using a grid. This is something I may use to link to book reviews. But I’m curious to see what other uses it might be. These are just a few suggestions.
- Cinemas promote tickets to the newest films
- A variety of yoga classes are offered by certified instructors.
- Fashion brands launch a new line of t-shirts
- Local builders reveal the services they offer
- Taxi companies promoting discount deals.
- Cafes that link to upcoming events.
4. Spotify allows you to embed songs and podcasts.
Spotify reached 300 million users last year for the first time. This solidified its position as the largest music streaming service in the world. It was easy for us to create a Spotify embed feature.
You can use it for musicians who want to promote their music, or creators who need to show off a podcast. You might create a Start Page to showcase your favorite artists.
5. Your Start Page can be styled in your own way
It can be difficult to choose the right style for your brand. We have 16 themes that will match your look.
Each theme has a different background color, button colour, and font that makes the page stand out. Want even more control? You can even have more control with the hexcode color picker.
