Twitter was a simple micro-blogging platform when it was first created in 2006. However, the social media platform offers many features entrepreneurs and content creators can use to grow their businesses. Twitter has been a success for many brands because it provides easy ways to connect with your followers.
Twitter has seen a lot of changes in recent months. Here’s a guide that covers all the latest features and how to best use them for your small business.
Here’s what you need to know about Twitter’s Latest Features
Although Fleets are no longer available, Twitter still has many useful features that can be used to aid content creators. These are the features you need to help grow your online business.
Twitter Blue
Twitter Blue is constantly changing. Follow the latest news about Twitter Blue here.
Twitter Blue was originally launched in 2021 and limited to certain countries, such as the U.S., Australia, Canada, New Zealand and New Zealand. Users were given a grace period of 30 second to undo their tweets. They also had bookmark folders that could be used to organize saved tweets. A reader mode made it easier to view tweets.
A bookmarks folder is a great way of organizing a variety tweets. You can, for example, create a bookmark folder to save tweets you find inspiring and one for tweets you receive from followers.
Twitter is currently working to revamp this feature. Twitter Blue will be a premium subscription service that raises quality Twitter conversations. Users will need to pay $7.99 for access to the old features and new features. Although it appears that the current Twitter Blue is currently on pause, Twitter has already announced several new features Twitter Blue will have.
Edit Tweets
Twitter launched an editing function in 2022 after many requests from users. The feature is currently only available for Twitter Blue users. A user can edit a tweet five times in a 30 minute time frame using the edit button. Viewers will be able see both the original tweet and the edit history for security reasons.
You can edit your tweets to reduce typos and mistakes that may occur when you send out tweets in real time. This will make it easier for your followers to read.
Verification
Blue check marks used to only be available to the authorized accounts of famous figures such as celebrities, brands and journalists. After being independently reviewed by Twitter, these individuals were awarded a blue checkmark.
The above conditions remain in effect, but Twitter Blue users will also be awarded the blue checkmark. Twitter Blue users won’t be allowed to change their names once they have received a blue checkmark to reduce impersonations.
Twitter also announced a few new features, including the possibility for Twitter Blue users, to see 50% fewer ads, have their tweets prioritized and post longer videos.
Twitter Circles
You’ve ever wanted to send a tweet to a small number of your Twitter followers. Twitter Circles allows you to do this. This feature is similar in function to Instagram’s Close Friends. It allows you to add up 150 people to your Twitter Circle and send exclusive content to them. You can only create one Twitter Circle using your account.
After you have set up your circle you can send tweets to either your general audience or to your Twitter Circle. As they include a green badge underneath, you’ll be able identify tweets sent to your circle.
There is some overlap between Twitter Subscriptions and Twitter Circles. But there is one major difference. Access to exclusive content will cost your Twitter Subscribers, while being added to someone’s Twitter Circle is completely free.
These are just a few of the many ways that Twitter Circles can be used for your small business.
- You can create a Twitter Circle to get feedback from specific customers if you are beta-testing a product or feature.
- Send exclusive content to select followers, VIP customers and individuals who have signed up for your company’s emails
- To keep in touch with your employees and to nurture your company culture, create a circle.
Twitter Communities
A Twitter Community allows you to have healthy, lively conversations with other like-minded people on the platform. This feature allows you to join or start a conversation within a closed group. It can be viewed as a conversation between members of a closed group via tweets.
You can either create a Twitter community by yourself or with another user. Once you have created a Twitter community, you can become an administrator or moderator. You can set the topic, moderate the discussion, invite members to join and enforce the rules of the community. Moderators are free to invite as many members they wish.
You can also become a member of a community and join a particular Twitter Community. Some communities allow anyone to join. Others require an invitation from the administrator.
Twitter Communities are closed group discussions between members. However, other Twitter users cannot engage in or join the discussion. They will still be able to view the conversation because the communities are open to all.
A Twitter Community is a great way for entrepreneurs and content creators to have a conversation and share their expertise. Madalyn, a marketer, does exactly this with her Twitter Community “Get TwitterSmarter” w/ Madalyn. Madalyn uses the hashtag #TwitterSmarter to host a Thursday discussion in the community about her top tips for using Twitter.
A community allows you to have a conversation with your followers rather than simply tweeting at them.
Subscribe to Twitter
Twitter Subscriptions are a way content creators can monetize their tweets via the platform. Your followers will be able to subscribe to your Twitter account if you offer this service. They’ll also receive exclusive tweets from you that they won’t be able to see for their general Twitter followers.
Your subscribers will have access to special tweets and a badge beside their names whenever they interact with your content. This allows you to easily identify them. Subscriber-only Twitter Spaces will also be available to them.
Your subscription cost can be set to $2.99, $4.99 or $9.99. This price allows you to curate the content that you will be offering your subscribers.
Subscriptions are a great way to stay in touch with your most passionate fans and subscribers, and give them additional content. Ashani, a Tarot reader and alchemist, regularly posts content on her Twitter account. However Ashani goes above and beyond to provide her Twitter Subscribers with personalized readings as well as in-depth messages.
Twitter Subscriptions have another benefit: Ashani can reduce the number of platforms she uses. Ashani is now only active on Twitter Subscriptions, instead of Patreon.
Similar to actor, producer and artist Gary Gray, Twitter Subscriptions allows him to offer his most loyal supporters special content. This includes discounts on his art and a first look at some of his writing. The feature allows him to build a stronger relationship with his subscribers, as they are a smaller group. This allows him to spend more time with them and interact with them one-on-one.
You must meet these criteria to be eligible for Twitter Subscriptions
- You must be 18 years old or older
- Minimum 10,000 followers
- In the last 30 days, you have tweeted at least 25 times
Connecting your newsletter to your Twitter account
Twitter purchased Revue, a newsletter platform that allowed users to link Revue newsletters to their Twitter accounts in 2021. This feature can be enabled by placing a module below your Twitter bio that allows followers to subscribe to your newsletter.
Click the module to see a preview for your newsletter. Followers will have the option to select which subscription they would like to buy if you offer a paid newsletter.
Newsletters can be a great way for you to build community and connect with your audience. You can link your newsletter to your Twitter account to ensure that more people have the chance to subscribe to it.
Anyone can connect a Revue newsletter to their Twitter account if they have a Revue account. Are you interested in connecting a Revue newsletter with your Twitter account? This article will help you to follow each step.
Tips and Tipping
Twitter Tips allows you to connect your Twitter account with a third-party service, such as Venmo, Cash App and PayPal, to receive cash from your Twitter followers. Your Twitter followers are basically thanking you and supporting you by tipping you.
You don’t need to create extra content or original content to get tips, unlike Twitter Subscriptions. Your followers can tip you using the tip feature.
This feature is great for small businesses and content creators. You can also get tips after certain tweets to help you determine which of your tweets are performing well. This feature can also be used to raise funds for worthy charities and causes.
To be eligible for Twitter Tips, one must be at least 18 years old.
Twitter Spaces
Twitter Spaces were first introduced in December 2020 and quickly became a very popular feature. You can create a Twitter Space to host a live audio conversation via Twitter. Many compared Spaces with Clubhouse when it first launched.
Twitter spaces are open to anyone, even if they don’t follow you. They can also chime in to the Space and share their thoughts. Although only 13 people are allowed to speak in the Space at once, this includes the host, two co-hosts and 10 participants.
There are many ways to advertise your Twitter Space once you have it set up. All your followers will see the purple banner advertising your Twitter Space at their top of their Twitter feed.
Directly invite someone by DMing them, and then tweeting the link to your Twitter Space. It is possible to schedule Twitter Spaces in advance, which gives you more time to promote it to your community.
You can also record spaces from the host. You can also clip audio recordings from your Space if you have enabled the recording feature. This allows you to highlight important moments in the conversation and then repurpose them for a tweet. You can also cross-post Spaces recordings to create podcast episodes.
Twitter Spaces have been used by many news organizations and media companies to discuss breaking news. This includes reporters from The New York Times and NPR as well as the HuffPost. Spaces are held by journalists about current events to engage their readers.
