Today I have an important announcement.
Drip, the most popular e-commerce marketing automation platform has acquired Sleeknote.
You can rest assured that if you are a customer or partner, nothing will change.
Sleeknote, all of its products and features will continue to be available at the current pricing plan. You can also get expert support from our Customer Success and Managed Solutions team.
We will continue to release new features and improve our product as we do today, but only as part of an even bigger and more important mission. (Our combined entity will employ over 150 people and generate more than $2B in revenue for over 10,000 brands.
Here’s the complete story…
How we got here
We had a compelling vision when the Sleeknote cofounders and I (Mogens), founded Sleeknote back in 2014. It was a vision that was similar to many founders of startups. This vision consisted of three parts:
We wanted to create a unique product that e-commerce companies around the globe would use and benefit from. We also wanted to foster a culture of caring and fun in the workplace.
After eight years of riding the entrepreneurial rollercoaster, I believe we have achieved all that is possible.
We have a brand and product that is unique today. Our software is used by more than 2,500 customers from 60 countries every day to gather qualified email addresses, engage website visitors and increase online sales.
Our marketing blog has 2 million visitors annually and educates and informs marketers on how to increase their conversion rate. This includes email campaigns, website popups, and everything in between.
Popups have been criticized for being annoying and intrusive. We’ve removed that stigma by providing popup alternatives.
Perhaps most important, however, is the fact that we have created a wonderful place to work. We enjoy coming to work each day as a team.
But we are not done yet…
As I said before, my co-founders and me hoped to sell the company one day and reap the benefits of our labors, whether it was drinking Sangrias at a beach or building a new company in another category.
For a long time that was what we were working towards.
Then, something happened.
As we grew the company and created a place where co-founders felt comfortable, we realized that we were not ready to let go. We also realized that funding was not enough to help us take Sleeknote to new heights and reach more brands.
We wanted to partner with a company that shared our vision of growth. One that was committed to going above and beyond to serve its customers. It was the one that valued building a place where people want to go every day.
We set out to find this company for much of 2021. We met many promising investors, received numerous offers for Sleeknote and failed to find the right company, especially on the cultural side.
Drip was our guide until then.
Drip, the most popular marketing automation platform for e-commerce, is not something you have heard of. Drip, like Sleeknote helps online brands increase their leads and sales while preserving the user experience.
We’re taking the best of both platforms–Sleeknote’s intuitive Campaign Builder and Drip’s ultra-powerful segmentation engine–and combining them to provide a robust, turnkey solution that will allow any marketer to uplevel their marketing.
That’s not all. Drip gave us the impression that from day one we could work with them for many years to come.
Drip’s work culture is also why my co-founders, and I, decided to reinvest large amounts of Sleeknote’s sales price in Drip shares. Unorthodox? Maybe. We believe so in our joint venture.
Even though I won’t be drinking Sangrias at the beach anytime soon, it’s not a problem. At least I can finally upgrade my VW Polo to a more modern model. Perhaps even an electric one
What are our next steps?
As I said, there will be no changes for our customers or partners. Pricing will remain the same as today. Our Engineering team will continue to ship new features, and Customer Success will help you with any technical questions.
Looking further into the future, our plan is to merge Sleeknote and Drip. To paraphrase American counterparts, this means “rowing together as one crew in one boat.”
Finally, thank you for helping Sleeknote to grow to the point it is today. It’s been an honor to serve you on this journey, whether you’re a new customer or a regular customer.
From here, it’s only up.
